Wednesday, the day we were docking in Honduras, also happened to be Brandy's 27th birthday! We decided to go to a beach called Tabyana Beach. It. Was. Beautiful.
The sand was white and the water was as clear as could be! The first picture is looking straight down in the water, and i was waist deep! The second picture is completely under water as we were heading out to snorkel.
Once we got out far enough, they warned us which way to go to avoid getting stuck in "fire coral." Now, I wasn't exactly sure what fire coral was, however, I knew enough to know I wanted no part of it.So we just followed another couple and went about our business.
We were able to see a lot of fish, and the water was so clear we could see every detail. I wish the camera captured how clear and vibrant everything actually was!
We all know the ocean is beautiful. However, if you are anything like me, it also scares you to death! One minute we were looking down and saw coral 15 feet below us......and the next we look down and see 50 feet of nothing. It's safe to say I panicked. So we decided we had better head back. The coral got closer and closer to our bellies. Before we knew it, we had lost our guide couple, and were barely making it above the coral without scraping our bellies. Fire coral on my belly?! Thanks, but no. Again I panicked.Thankfully, some locals saw us and hopped in their canoe to lead us back to the correct path.
If you look closely, I'm pretty sure these fellas were doing their best to say, "Hey! Silly white people! Turn the hell around if you know what's good for you!" :) Needless to say once we made it back to shore, our snorkeling adventures had come to a close for the day.
